HISTORY
The Junction Buoy, located on the St. Clair River, in Marysville, MI is locally owned and operated by the mother and daughter team of Sylvia Cowhy and Kim Roberts. The Buoy (as it is often called) has been in this family for the past 26 years.
The original location was established in 1937 and was known as the Club Seaway. Club Seaway was owned and operated by Louie and Sophie Masters.
The restaurant was later renamed the Junction Buoy. A "junction buoy" marks the separation of two channels. In this case it designates the shipping channel which is host to many freighters going up and down the river. The "junction buoy" is located off to the right in the river and can be identified by its yellow bottom. This is one of the best spots on the river for freighter watching along with many other water sports.
Across the river in Corunna (Canada) is the Shell Oil dock where the freighters can be seen "fueling up". The island off to the right is Stag Island. Stag Island is an Canadian Island that has no automobile traffic. The Buoy is located near Marysville Park, the Water Treatment Plant and walking distance from Chrysler Beach.
Aside from all of this, the Buoy is well known for its margaritas and bloody marys! Or if you are hungry, try our deep fried pickles, a pickerel sandwich or a Buoy grilled chicken salad. Just a few of the favorites here at the Buoy.
